PRESS RELEASE

UP AND COMING PHOTOGRAPHERS SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS

The region’s next generation of photographers will be exhibiting at Light House, Wolverhampton from 11 to 27 June, when local graduating students will showcase the culmination of two years’ work in Photography and Digital Imaging.

Strongly aware of their Midlands roots, the sixteen HND and HNC students have produced a range of personal projects – many of which seek to capture the character of the local landscape and people.

Highlights include ; Martin Cartwright’s “Second Hand Fashion”, which takes its inspiration from the hand-me-down chic of local charity shops; and Matt Murtagh’s “Development”, which documents the 60s brutalist architecture of Yardley’s Swan Centre prior to its demolition this summer.

The exhibition, entitled Student Photography, is presented by Sandwell College in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton, and draws on the full breadth of photographic practice from traditional film techniques to cutting edge examples of digital manipulation. It offers both a unique chance to see the work of emerging photographers in the West Midlands and a fascinating view of the region.

Admission to the Student Photography exhibition is free.
